I was pretty damn pleased with it. It was only my 3rd jew on a lure (2nd on a plastic). It fought it for about 15 minutes using a 3000 series reel (the rod/reel in the picture was being used for drifting a whole dead mullet). This fish acted strangely in that it never took a long surging run at the start, so I was calling it for an epic metre plus flathead. Took me ages to revive it after the fight, but I found that really pushing it hard back and forth got the water across its gills better than being gentle.

No it isn't. This is a feathercraft baylee 1 (with the self-bailing floor option and a few of my mods). It is heavier than an alpacka but I find the benefit of the self-bailing floor more than makes up for the extra weight.

What did you do with your Alpacka? I have seen the baylor in action in the white water, they go well in that situation but I like the Alpacka weight advantage for hike in fishing. Nice to see another Tarptent Moment out there too :-) Great pics of some wicked adventures

It's still going strong, but I tend to use it more for the creek areas where the self-bailing is not really needed (keeps the weight down too). I haven't put the baylee 1 through any 'decent' white water yet but it seems to do the job.
